This Italian osteria celebrates fire and wine. Our goal was to create a space that was both grand and intimate, so we created our own “wine library” inspired by grand European libraries, with cozy nooks, soaring heights, and rolling ladders. The wood-fired oven is the hearth, the focal point of the space, so we chose to place it front and center. Cork-clad walls and wooden slats simulate the wine barrels and cooperages of the Old World. To keep the grandness a bit more casual, we took inspiration from nonna’s kitchen, with oil paintings and humble Italian-designed chairs that the chef remembers from his own nonna’s dining table.

Good design tells a story, crafting a narrative as a subtle undercurrent to the experience.
