Inspired by 1970’s Italian glamour, the design celebrates plush textures, bold colours, and an eclectic contrast of modern minimalist lines and traditional classics. The immersive ceiling design is intended to emulate the appearance of a stormy sky at sea.
The designers were challenged with budgetary constraints that required them to be especially tactful with their approach. The ceiling design was the largest feature of the lounge and evolved into a collaboration between the builders and owners. Comprised of 3,100 handmade rings of nylon fringe, a method was developed that allowed rapid mass production, along with a standardized hanging system, all hung by hand with the help of volunteers
Guests in the space are enveloped in a wave of rain that engages with them differently as they navigate around it. The ceiling design occupies the entire room and is intentionally compressive, the lowest point of the fringe sitting only 7 feet above the ground. A custom lighting array was installed above the fringe to further emulate the appearance of a stormy sky while still providing functional lighting.

Leather hides were hand-picked for their softness, imperfections, and colour, and created a double-layer sub-top to wrap the edge for wipe-ability.
The lighting design integrated with custom tables in partnership with Karice Lighting. By raising the floor on the east side of the room, you get a defined zone within the larger room where patrons can sit higher and peek out the windows.
These custom fringed leather side tables, 2-tone curtain walls, marble sofa tables, and arched globe lamp-tables, were all designed and built specifically for comfort, function, and coziness.
