Baby Baby
Baby Baby imagines a new history for a century-old building, creating the feeling of a place that has been loved, lived in, and added to over generations rather than designed all at once. After years of vacancy and neglect in the heart of Winnipeg’s Osborne Village, extensive work was needed to stabilize and subdivide the building before that new story could begin. We imagined the restaurant as the best open-door house party you could ever stumble into, where archival millwork details and cozy pub snugs sit alongside contemporary art, a hand-painted snake stretching the length of the restaurant, and a massive bar carved from leathered Brazilian quartzite. After dark, concealed lighting bathes it all in a warm, honey-toned glow, creating something lively, familiar, and just a little unruly—a new chapter for a building that had been waiting a long time for one.
